Welcome 2016

When it comes to making new years resolutions I have never been one to participate. In honesty I have never really been fond of new year itself as a celebration.

Resolutions aren't my thing no, but setting goals are.

It has been a long time since I have sat down with myself and thought: This is what I want to achieve in 2016.

1. Craft until my hearts content

Being creative has been the best form of therapy I could have asked for. I have gone from cross stitching from magazines to actually designing my own sewing projects, painting and calligraphy.

I find a solace in being creative and it really does give me the motivation to get out of bed and function as a normal human being.

During Christmas I had a little stall at a local Church selling my Christmas decorations and I was overwhelmed with how popular they were! It prompted me to start a Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/dolliesbuttons which led to more interest, and better more orders!

The picture above is one of the little Christmas fairies I made for the stall.

This year I am going to work on more projects to sell online and open up my own Etsy shop. I even had the very talented Jemma from Dorkface design my logo!

2. Become involved in the Blogging community

I began blogging in 2013, but was so nervous that people who new me in 'reality' would find me and laugh at me. This has become something that has eaten away at my anxiety and stopped me from pursuing most of my interests in fear of being mocked.

Although over the last couple of years I have learnt that life is too short, and those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter!

3. Work on my photography

If you follow me on Instagram (@perfictionlife) then you'll know I LOVE taking photos and editing them. I just love being creative and taking random photographs and editing them together. Also I am obsessed with looking at other peoples Instagram's and finding lots of inspiration from there!

Below is one of my favourite pictures I took last year from a day trip to the Liverpool Albert Docks.

And of course 1/2 of my fur babies.

 4. Volunteer more with the RSPCA

In 2015 I started volunteering as a cat cuddler, and yes it is as good as it sounds. Being a cat cuddler entails visiting the rescued cats and spending time with them, getting them used to human interaction. This is an essential part of the re-homing process, as some cats who come into the RSPCA's care really do need to learn to trust humans again.

^ This is my beautiful Scrappy who I adopted from the RSPCA last year.

Cat cuddling is one of my most favourite things to do as animal welfare is something I hold close to my heart. It's just so hard not to take them all home with me. Although I did fall in love with one in particular called Scrappy, who is now asleep on my lap as I type this.

Ideally I would like to volunteer more at fundraisers and I have even offered to take photographs for the RSPCA for their website of their animals and events.

What are your goals for 2016? Are you hoping it will be a better year?

  2. Scrappy looks adorable! These are great goals, life is too short for people who are bringing negativity into it. My goals are maintaining a healthy lifestyle, taking better pictures for my blog and just making the most of this year. :) x

  3. You've hit the nail of the head with these goals. They're all fantastic and I've just recently gotten my crafting mojo back and I can't wait to see what comes out of my hands (sometimes it's never what my brain thought). Good luck with this <3
