10 WAYS TO GLAM UP YOUR HOME

This time on the blog it's all about ways to create a glamorous home environment. I have taken inspiration from some of my favourite, glam Instagram accounts and thought up cost effective ways we could all recreate them in our own homes. I can't be the only one who lusts after an Instagram worthy home, one so chic it is enough to get me 5k likes and make peoples jaws drop. Of course the reality is we can't all live like a real housewife of Orange County sadly... But there are small changes that can be done to contribute to a home that defines glamour.

1. Gold
To incorporate gold into your home effectively you can keep it simple with a few little accents whether that be through spray painting your coffee table legs or simply through a picture frame. There is something about golden details that gives a glam feel to the space, it suggests luxury. Because of the copper trend, metallic home accessories are available in a majority of homeware stores at some are at very reasonable prices too. There is always the option of spray painting your current items with gold paint to give them a glam revamp too!

2. Walls of a fashionista
By adding art and fashion prints you can bring more glamour and character to your home. From the Marilyn to the Audrey, these famous starlets are known for their fashion and beauty, but you don't necessarily have to use these. I adore the look of fashion sketches and magazine cover prints. Etsy is a fabulous place to find a large range of unique prints to decorate your home with. You could also recycle old magazine covers or make a collage of your favourite magazine features and display them in a gold frame.

3. Texture
I love this combination of velvet, faux fur and sequins! Is there anything more glamorous? Together all these textures merge perfectly together and as a result are very pleasing on the eye. Cushions are an amazing and cheap way to quickly change up your decor, bargain shops such as B&M's and Wilkos always have a fantastic range of cushions to choose from.

4. Statement lighting
Nothing screams glamour like a grand chandelier hanging in the hallway. But if you're like me and a chandelier like something from the Real Housewives of Orange County is a little out of budget, then do not fear! Shops like Dunelm have some beautiful lighting fixtures that can still bring the glamour to your home without breaking the bank. Statement lighting can also be done through the medium of candles too. A cluster of candle votives with glitter and sparkle can be just as effective. Looking in second hand shops is a good idea for candelabras which you can spray paint gold yourself.

5. Monochromatic
A monochrome colour palette will always look sleek and glam. So when it is teamed with gold accessories and a few crystals it will help bring the glamorous feel alive. Using monochrome colours also means you can also regularly play around with colourful accessories and switch it up from time to time, without the costly hassle of re-decorating your walls/carpets.

6. Who is the fairest of them all?
Who said you could only have one mirror? I love the look of lots of small mirrors clustered together with different detailing. I think it can make a house look far grander. And of corse a big statement mirror is the perfect focal point of any room and can also make a room seem much bigger than what it really is. You can buy mirror glass online and glue it into a large frame, this would save money and you could really glam it up yourself to your taste.

7. Let out your wild side
If you're going to try and create a glamorous look though it's expected that you will incorporate some element of animal print into your home (all faux of corse!) I think this can look particularly affective on cushions and it doesn't have to be in your face to avoid it cheapening up the overall look.

8. Arrange your favourite blooms in a glam vase
In my opinion florals and blooms should be added to every room. The best way to add some cost effective glamour into your home is to arrange a big bouquet of flowers in a tall, metallic vase. Faux flowers are always a good idea too and you can add extra accessories into the bouquet such as sparkly twigs and crystals.

9. Fashion books/magazines:
These really are Instagram worthy material, I love them! They look absolutely fabulous and are so easy to incorporate into your home decor scheme. Placing them on your coffee table to perhaps stand a vase or candle holder on is a great way to highlight a focal point of your room. They also look amazing on your bookshelves adding a touch of glamour and chic. Oh and it also gives you and your guests something to read/look at!

10. Crystals
Crystals can be added to your home without breaking the bank through small changes such as replacing your old draw handles with crystal look ones, instantly revamping an old set of draws into something far more glamourous. Hanging crystals from lampshades are also a good idea, as when placed near a window the natural sunlight will catch the crystals and shine. Again if you search in places like The Range, Dunelm and B&M you will find lots of homeware accessories with crystal like embellishments.
