HELLO KITTY OPI NAIL VARNISH REVIEW

Hello Kitty to me is the epitome of all things cute and girly. So imagine my joy when I discovered that OPI had created some super sweet shades for a Hello Kitty collection. There are twelve colours in the collection which range from pretty pinks, bright yellow, blue, red, white and jet black. The latter are less appealing to me as opposed to the pink and glittery shades. I have been wanting some of these nail varnishes for a while and the other day whilst browsing in TK MAXX I saw this nail duo set with perhaps the sweetest toe separators ever (if they are in competition with one another that is) and the price was how much it would probably be for just one stand alone varnish. I can't specifically remember how much I paid but I think it was around the £15 range. Needless to say it was a done deal at a price I couldn't refuse.

The duo included Lets Be Friends a super pale pink which almost verges on being white and Charmmy & Sugar which reminded me of something from a fairytale with its glittery pink sparkles accented with silver sparkles.

I am such a sucker for anything remotely cutesy and the lids of the nail varnishes could have sold a pot full of soil to me. I love the white lid with black Hello Kitty outlines, I think it makes the collection seem even more special; as I have seen some collaborations OPI have done that don't have this feature on their packaging. I know to many it may seem pretty basic for me it was a winner... I guess you could say I am easily pleased?

Before I get into the nail varnish look at these fabulous toe separators (again easily pleased...) I'll admit I have never used them before so I could never really see a use for these, but I bought the package for the varnishes and this was I guess just a nice extra gift to include, although a Hello Kitty nail file would have been even better for me.

Lets Be Friends was a bit of a nightmare to apply and I found due to how pale it was it took at least three coats to achieve the look I was happy with, as I like my nail varnish to be opaque. However, the sitting around waiting for one layer to dry and then another proved worth it as the end result is so feminine and pretty! Which lets be honest from Hello Kitty that's what you'd expect.

Now for Charmmy & Sugar my favourite out of the two. It reminds me of something from a fairytale and I couldn't stop staring at my nails! It has an iridescent pink base with green, gold and pink sparkles; when caught in the light I felt like the fairy godmother, it was everything I was hoping it would be. I normally put the Sally Hansen top coat protector over the top of my nails, especially when it has sparkles as I can find the texture to be quite rough and be damaged easily. However I was quite impressed with the overall final texture and even without a top coat it lasted a good two weeks and whilst I was away on holiday. The only thing I would say is that I think this nail varnish especially Lets Be Friends would be better layered, or paired with a different shade of pink underneath to add depth.

Have you tried any of the Hello Kitty by OPI nail varnishes? What do you think? Please leave your comments!
