HOMEMADE STRAWBERRY SUMMER MILKSHAKE

What better way to welcome in the Great British Summer than by picking fresh strawberries and blending them into a delicious homemade milkshake! I have been strawberry picking a couple of times now already and whilst I love strolling in the afternoon sun picking fresh strawberries, I also love bringing them home and thinking of new smoothie/milkshake recipes. You can really taste the difference when you have picked your strawberries personally and so for any recipe I would always prefer to use fresh strawbs. Here is a recent recipe I made for my family one Sunday afternoon with our latest basket full, a Summer strawberry milkshake!

This recipe serves 4

You will need
4 cups of strawberries
3 cups of vanilla ice cream
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of sugar
300ml semi skimmed milk
3 cups of ice cubes

1. Firstly blend the milk, strawberries, vanilla extract and sugar.
2. Then add the vanilla ice cream and ice cubes and well you guessed it... blend!

The best thing about making milkshakes and smoothies is you can basically chuck anything in and experiment with lots of different flavours. If you wanted a thicker texture you could use double cream as a substitute for the milk. Also for decoration take a strawberry and cut it slightly to put on the rim of the serving glass!

What's your favourite milkshake flavour? Will you be picking any fresh strawberries this Summer and trying them out in a smoothie or a milkshake?
